The Dawn of the Age of Pinterest

quote I love Pinterest.

My heart beats with admiration every time I see one of those bento box lunches where the rice has made itself into some fun sort of animal.

Even though I smile every time I see some really fun food shaped into a smile in a kids lunch box I can not free form rice into a masterpiece.

This would most certainly be a Pinterest fail for me.

I am cute. Some people might say tacky.

I like Cute better.

I am the person who thinks eyelashes on a yellow convertible Volkswagon Beetle are the cutest thing ever.

If it had leopard seats you’re talking about one half of my dream car combination.

The other being a  thugged out Cadillac.

What I hate about Pinterest is how we have used this AMAZING creation to find another way to kick the shit out of each other .

Can we ever stop comparing ourselves to one another?

I would like to shout out my fat here.

I spent sooooooooo many  teenage years comparing myself to play boy models that by the time I had my first kid I had learned that comparison is an even bigger waste of time than an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

When I attempt a fun bento box lunch my kid has a ketchup explosion in the middle of camp.

That is me.

My kid will love me for all those ketchup explosions one day.

That is his Mom.

To our kids no matter what we do we are always the best Mom.

If you craft pencils with laser printed sayings on them, attempt to make their birthday cakes with elaborate  fondant creations, or you buy their birthday cake from the grocery store, if you read three books at night, tell stories, or watch Bubble Guppies.

It doesn’t matter.

The only thing that matters is that we show our love.

The only person I compare myself to is the person I am trying to become.

I have a wonderful (Virgo) only child sister who is a crafting goddess.

Am I jealous that she can make the most bad ass pom pom party animals?

 pom pom IMG_0980No.

I am however really really grateful she’s my friend

This is a classic case of make love not war.

Who doesn’t want a friend who will create a Yo Gabba Gabba birthday cupcake display for your kids third birthday?

Over the top love gesture crafts are not a waste of time, but wishing you were someone else sure is.

Please always know my awesomeness is in no way something I do to make you feel bad.

Everyone can be awesome. All you have to do is accept who you are.
