Little Tree

This one I always pictured as a children’s book, but I think it is time she makes her debut here on the blog.

Once upon a time in this very spot grew a baby tree that would steal your heart.

Many many moons ago a princess came out from her palace to dance and prance through the flowers.

She found two oak trees in the wood who seemed very lonely, this she understood.

She begged her Mother two plant two little trees so the bigger trees could become mommies.

With such a sweet sentiment the queen could not resist. She sent her guards to find two baby trees and let her daughters dreams exist.

The princess came out every day to dance and sing beside her trees.

She would spin and twirl until she would fall down into a curl.

She grew to love one baby tree much more than the other you see.

She would bring the tree upon the left flowers and trinkets so she wouldn’t forget which tree her favorite would be.

Then one day as she sat beneath the shade she heard a sound the right tree made.

The baby tree on the right had sprouted a leaf that shone very  bright

It sparkled as gold as the sun and made the princess get up and run.

Soon she came back with her Mother and they investigated the little tree, like no other.

The princess thought since the trees where alike soon her prized oak would be a sparkly sight.

But days turned to months and still not once did a pop come from her favorite trees trunk.

The other tree was all glitter now not one normal green leaf could be found.

The princess grew irate and ordered that the shiny tree be cut down with haste

But when the ax hit her bark it didn’t even make a spark.

Glitter rained down like snow, but not one leaf or branch was broke.

The princess marched off madder now and posted a decree that this tree would be cut down.

The shimmery trees mother begged her little tree to make the sparkles become dull as could be.

The Mother thought the baby tree could only survive if she grew normal.

Little tree thought that was silly who wouldn’t love a rainbow tree that sparkled brighter than the sea.

A few days later the princess was back with a different plan of attack.  She tried to set the little tree on fire, but the flames were soon expired. They would hit the trees trunk and turn to smoke. The princess was seething and that was no joke.

Again the Mother tree pleaded with her daughter to just stop shining was in order.

So little tree decided to try she didn’t want to die.

She squeezed in her roots and scrunched up her dazzle, and soon the glitter fell to the floor and little tree didn’t shine anymore.

The princess was over joyed when she saw the piles of glitter scattered about the floor.

Years passed by and little tree didn’t grow anymore she stayed small and close to the floor.

Long after the princess turned to a Queen and trust me she was still equally mean Littles trees mother started to wither.

Her branches drooped down to find little tree and she told her daughter she was as sorry as one could be.

She told little tree she should have never stopped shining. That scrunching her roots had created a mess and poor little tree was under distress. She couldn’t grow because she was too busy trying not to sparkle and for this her Mother felt awful regret and that day is the first day that a tree wept.

Little tree did agree that something was wrong,  this she could  certainly see.

She shook out her bark and dug deep inside until she could feel her roots starting to pry out of the ground with a bang and boom little tree shot up to the sky with pop and a boom. there the glitter started to drop filling the forest with a sparkly heart

Little tree learned that day that you have to shine no matter what people say.
